International Cooperation
This course introduces students to the concept of international cooperation, with a particular focus on global environmental and sustainability challenges. Students will explore why cooperation among countries and other actors is necessary, why it often fails, and how alternative forms of cooperation are emerging. The course uses "Gridlock: Why Global Cooperation Is Failing When We Need It Most" as a conceptual framework, supported by accessible case studies and guided discussion. No prior background in international relations is assumed.
Basic Reading I (Ackermann)

The goal of this class is to introduce students to the English reading skills necessary for reading at the college level. Students will develop their reading ability in order to read and understand reading passages without the need for translation. Emphasis will be placed on reading strategies (e.g. identifying the main idea and supporting details, making inferences, summarizing, and paraphrasing) and developing vocabulary. In addition to textbook readings, students will complete supplementary reading assignments given by the instructor.
